WHO WE'RE SUPPORTING IN 2026
In 2018 one of our ‘family’ needed support to fund a new Cancer treatment so we decided to hold a golf day to raise a ‘few thousand dollars’ to help with her costs. $35,000 later, The Charity Golf Day was born. We started the 2018 event because of Tristyn and the day was such an amazing success we’ve made it an annual event. Supported by a large number of our friends, colleagues and business partners this event is going to make a huge difference to 2 people this year, Brian and Shianne – see the “Who We Support’ tab. We have had amazing success in extending the life expectation of some amazing people and we look forward to being able to do this again in 2026. To be involved in supporting something really special please contact Errol Newlands.

SHIANNEWe have been supporting Shianne since 2021. In 2015/16 Shianne was travelling through Croatia where she suffered the first of many seizures and was rushed to the hospital. The doctors ran tests and scans and quickly found the cause behind the seizure, a brain tumour. In September 2020 a routine MRI unfortunately showed some sinister changes. Shianne had emergency surgery the following week, where they found tumour growth and again removed as much tumour as they could. In Nov 2020 she was given a devastating diagnosis, a Grade III Glioblastoma and doctors needed to start treating it aggressively with radiation and chemotherapy starting on the 25th of November 2020.Incredibly, Shianne is currently in remission but continuing with her treatment as a preventative. We are continuing to support Shianne.

BRIANI was delighted and grateful to hear from Errol in November 2024 about possible funding for my cancer treatment through the Livingstone Charity Golf Day - Taranaki. Here is a rundown of my journey so far. In 2011 I was diagnosed with renal cancer and unfortunately the waiting list for the removal of my left kidney was too long for me to survive so we went private and the operation was a success. 9 years later just as covid hit the cancer came back and I received funded treatment for nearly 3 years until that stopped working. The next most effective option was unfunded so I then had to fund my own treatment spending $80,000 over the next 14 months until that too stopped working. Another unfunded treatment was next on the list at $11,000/month but we then heard of a pharmaceutical company in Bangladesh that manufactures medications at a fraction of the NZ prices. I am now taking this medication with promising results so far and a cost of $420/month (that’s not a misprint!). My wife Bronwen had also been battling cancer during this time and sadly passed away in March 2024.
